Commonly known as flat bugs due to their extremely flattened bodies, Aradidae inhabit the underbark of dead or dying trees, where they feed on fungi and help in the decomposition process. One common misconception is that all bugs are pests; however, Aradidae species are generally harmless to living plants and contribute positively to forest health by breaking down fungal matter. This family showcases the diversity of ecological roles that insects can fulfill, far beyond the typical 'pest' stereotype.
