Description
Though tiny, Braconidae are formidable parasitoids; the female wasps lay their eggs inside a host insect. As the larvae develop, they consume the host from the inside out, eventually leading to its demise. This gruesome process might sound like horror fiction, but it's a critical ecological service that helps maintain the balance of ecosystems. By controlling pest populations, Braconidae indirectly supports agriculture and the health of plants worldwide.
