Description
The Celastrina genus, often spotted flitting vibrantly through meadows, includes species known for their striking blue hues. Contrary to the common belief that their brilliant coloration is merely aesthetic, the vivid blues serve as a deterrent against predators, exploiting coloration as a survival tactic. These butterflies exhibit a fascinating example of Batesian mimicry, where their harmless nature is masked by mimicking the toxic species, deceiving potential threats into thinking twice before approaching.
