Description
Unlike their larger cousins, Ceratina do not excavate their nests in wood but rather utilize existing tunnels in plant stems or dead wood, showcasing a remarkable adaptation. These bees are solitary, challenging the common misconception that all bees are social and live in large colonies. Interestingly, Ceratina exhibit a form of parental care, a rare behavior in the solitary bee world, where the mother bee guards her young, ensuring their survival and continuity.
