Description

The Chloropidae are a curious family of small flies that often go unnoticed due to their inconspicuous size and appearance. Despite their diminutive stature, they play a significant role in ecosystems, acting both as pests and as pollinators. A notable misconception about the Chloropidae is their harmless nature. While many assume all small flies are benign, some species within this family can damage grass crops and carry plant diseases.
