Description

Dermacentor have evolved not only with unique mouthparts designed for penetrating skin but also a cement-like secretion to anchor themselves securely while feeding. Despite their infamy, their ecological role includes influencing host population dynamics and ecosystem health, demonstrating that even creatures as seemingly malevolent as Dermacentor have their place in nature's complex tapestry.
