Description

The Diprion genus encompasses some fascinating conifer-feeding sawflies. Unbeknownst to many, despite resembling wasps, members of Diprion lack the ability to sting, a misconception that often leads to undue fear. Females are equipped with a serrated ovipositor that allows them to lay eggs inside plant tissue, ensuring a food source for their larvae.
