Description
Dolomedes are commonly known as fishing spiders due to their remarkable ability to walk on water, leveraging surface tension in pursuit of prey. Unlike most spiders, Dolomedes do not spin webs to catch their meals. Instead, they use their powerful legs to skitter across water surfaces to catch small fish and insects. Contrary to popular misconceptions, Dolomedes are harmless to humans. Their presence around water bodies is a testament to their specialized hunting skills and adaptation to aquatic life.
