Description

Belonging to the Collembola order, Entomobrya are fascinating for their springtail mechanism, an evolutionary adaptation that allows these tiny creatures to catapult away from threats with rapid flicks of a specialized 'tail' called the furcula. Contrary to common misconceptions, Entomobrya do not pose any danger or disease to humans. Their presence is actually beneficial in ecosystems as they help in decomposing organic matter, thereby enhancing soil fertility and health.
