Description
Meet Episyrphus, a master of disguise and aeronautics. Contrary to what one might think, members of this genus are not bees but are hoverflies, expertly mimicking the furry black and yellow bands to deter predators. With remarkable flying skills, they can hover in midair and even fly backwards, allowing them to feed on nectar while airborne. Their larvae play an essential role in pest control, voraciously consuming aphids, making Episyrphus invaluable in both gardens and agriculture.
