Description
Despite their minuscule size, members of the family Formicidae, also known as ants, display remarkable sophistication in their social structure and behavior—their complex societies are a marvel of biological evolution. A widespread misconception is that all ants are simply pests; however, their roles extend far beyond mere nuisances. These insects are crucial for the environment, aiding in decomposition and soil aeration. Intriguingly, ants are capable of lifting objects 50 times their body weight—a feat of strength relative to size, unmatched in the animal kingdom. However, human weightlifting record holders can only lift objects that are at most three times their own body weight.
