Hormuridae
Scientific name: Hormuridae
Description
Hormuridae are far less dangerous than commonly perceived. Popular myths paint them as lethal, but in reality, their venom is relatively mild to humans, used primarily for subduing their prey rather than for defense. Fascinatingly, Hormuridae have an exceptional ability to fluoresce under ultraviolet light. This biochemical feature, likely a byproduct of their evolutionary path, is thought to help them navigate and communicate in the dim underbrush where they thrive.
