Description
Hypogastrura is a group of tiny wingless arthropods closely related to insects. Despite their minuscule size, they play a crucial role in soil ecology, aiding in the decomposition process and nutrient cycling. A unique trait of Hypogastrura is their capability to endure extreme cold, making them prevalent even in snowy environments where they are observed 'springing' away from predators using a special tail-like structure called a furcula.
