Lasioglossum are some of the most prolific pollinators in the bee world. Contrary to the popular belief that honeybees are the sole heroes in pollination, Lasioglossum species play a crucial, often overlooked role in this process. These bees are exceptionally diverse, with species ranging widely in behavior and appearance. Remarkably, most Lasioglossum are ground-nesters, constructing intricate underground burrows rather than the more familiar hive structures associated with their honeybee cousins.
