Description

Macremphytus represents a genus of sawflies typically known for their plant-host specificity. Despite their name, sawflies do not actually saw through wood nor are they classified as true flies. Instead, members of Macremphytus use a saw-like appendage to lay eggs inside plant tissue, facilitating nutrient-rich environments for their larvae.
