Description

The Notonecta genus, often referred to as the 'backswimmer,' defies typical aquatic norms by swimming upside down, using its legs as oars. This intriguing behavior is not just a quirk but an adaptation for ambush predation. They breathe air but hang inverted under the water surface, poised to strike prey with their piercing mouthparts.
