Unlike their more well-known counterparts, the dragonflies, Platystictidae are smaller and more delicately built, featuring an array of bright colors that can surprise those unfamiliar with them. Platystictidae species are skilled predators in their aquatic nymph stages, adept at controlling mosquito populations.
