Description

Belonging to the genus Procambarus, these freshwater crustaceans are often mistaken for their marine relatives due to their striking resemblances. Unlike lobsters that thrive in saltwater, Procambarus species are highly adapted to a variety of freshwater habitats. Intriguingly, the Procambarus clarkii is known for its significant impact on ecosystems beyond its native range due to its invasive nature, occasionally displacing local species and altering habitats.
