Description

Hidden within the foliage, the members of Raphidiidae are remarkable yet often overlooked predators in the insect world. Often referred to as 'snakeflies', these insects are neither snakes nor true flies, a common misconception. Their elongated prothorax gives them a snake-like appearance, which is purely coincidental. Contrary to what one might expect, these fascinating creatures play a critical role in controlling aphids and other pest populations, serving as natural pest control agents.
