Windscorpions, solifuges, sunspiders and jerrymunglums are not actually spiders but rather a type of arachnid that belongs to the order Solifugae. They live in dry climates and primarily feed on arthropods and other small animals. Although their mouthparts are large and can cause painful bites, they lack venom glands. They are mainly active at night when hunting for small prey. Windscorpions, solifuges, sunspiders and jerrymunglums may accidentally come into contact with humans when seeking shade or hunting prey near lights. Although they are typically not aggressive, they may bite if provoked.
