Description
Members of the genus Tachina are fascinating for their role in controlling pest populations. These flies are parasitic during their larval stage, intricately depositing their eggs on other insects. Once hatched, the larvae consume their host from within, showcasing a natural form of pest control. Contrary to the unsettling imagery this might evoke, Tachina flies are harmless to humans and contribute significantly to maintaining ecological balance by naturally managing harmful insect populations.
