Xylophagid flies
Scientific name: Xylophagidae
Description
Xylophagidae, also known as Awl-Flies. This name does not seem to have much to do with the adult, but seems to be related to the appearance of the larvae. Some Xylophagidae larvae have dark cones at the end of their bodies, which may be the source of its common name. And Xylophagidae larvae often hide in rotten wood to eat food, which is similar to the behavior of awls.
