Description

Contrary to common beliefs, not all termites are voracious destroyers of homes. Archotermopsidae primarily feed on decaying wood, recycling nutrients back into the environment, thus fostering ecological balance. These termites thrive in moist wood, leading to their misleading label as 'dampwood termites,' which might suggest they solely inhabit waterlogged forests. In reality, they are found in various humid wooded regions, contributing significantly to the decomposition processes that shape their habitats.
