Description
The Clytus genus, often mistaken as wasps, artfully deceives predators with its striking yellow and black bands. This mimicry is not just a visual trick but an evolutionary advantage, allowing Clytus to avoid many would-be threats. Interestingly, these insects are entirely harmless wood-borers, feeding on decaying trees, unlike their wasp doppelg?ngers who might pack a sting. Their larvae play a crucial role in the ecosystem by helping in the decomposition of wood, thereby contributing to nutrient cycling in forests.
