Rhinoceros beetles
Scientific name: Dynastidae
Description
The Dynastidae, often evoking the regal aura of ancient dynasties through their name, are a family of large beetles better known as rhinoceros beetles. Contrary to the brute force associated with rhinoceros, these beetles are relatively harmless and primarily feed on decaying plant matter, not flesh or live plants as some myths suggest. One fascinating aspect is their remarkable strength; they can carry objects up to 850 times their own body weight. The males' prominent horn-like structures, used in battles over territory and mates, contribute to their royal moniker, mirroring the horn of a rhinoceros, yet they wield them chiefly in ceremonial displays rather than in actual combat.
