Description

Members of the family Hemerobiidae, are often overshadowed by their more famous relatives, the green lacewings. Despite their unassuming appearance, Hemerobiidae play a pivotal role in natural pest control, voraciously consuming aphids and other plant pests. One fascinating aspect is that they can decrease their metabolic rate and enter a dormant state when environmental conditions are harsh, a process known as diapause. Their contribution to biodiversity and agriculture is invaluable, highlighting the intricate balance of ecosystems.
