Description
Lepismatidae are fascinating creatures that have roamed the Earth for over 400 million years. Renowned for their silver sheen and rapid movements, members of this family are often branded as 'silverfish'. Despite their unsettling appearance and unwelcome presence in damp corners of homes, these creatures are harmless, feeding primarily on carbohydrates such as sugars and starches. Contrary to the common belief that they are carriers of pathogens, silverfish are not known to transmit any diseases to humans, making their 'nuisance' label more a matter of perception than a scientific fact.
