The genus Lucidota is part of a captivating group of beetles known for their ability to produce light, commonly referred to as fireflies. Distinct from popular belief, not all members of this group are capable of bioluminescence in their adult form; some species lose this ability after the larval stage. Interestingly, the light produced is incredibly efficient, involving a chemical reaction that results in almost no heat loss, making it one of the most energy-efficient lights in nature.
