Description

Members of the Melanoplus genus are part of a group more commonly referred to as grasshoppers. A captivating detail about these creatures is their role in what鈥檚 known as 'locust swarms'. Under specific ecological circumstances, Melanoplus can exhibit behavioral changes and transform into a 'gregarious phase', forming massive swarms that can devastatingly impact crops.
