Description
Monochamus species are known for their elongated antennae, often surpassing their own body length. These beetles play a crucial role in the ecosystem by aiding the decomposition of dead trees, thereby recycling nutrients. However, they're often mistakenly feared for harming healthy forests. In truth, Monochamus typically infests trees already weakened or dying. Their presence can be an indicator of a forest's declining health rather than a cause of it.
