Description

Despite its grim name, Necrophila is fascinating due to its ecological role. Members of this genus, commonly referred to as carrion beetles, play a crucial role in decomposing and recycling dead tissue. Contrary to the unsettling image their name might suggest, these beetles provide significant environmental benefits by hastening the decomposition process of animal remains, thus preventing the spread of diseases and recycling nutrients back into the ecosystem.
