Description
Members of the genus Neotibicen are known for their distinctive and resonant singing, primarily heard during the late summer. Contrary to what some might think, these sounds are not vocal, but produced by a structure called a tymbal on their exoskeletons. Each species within this genus can produce different patterns of sounds, which are primarily used to attract mates and assert territory.
