Description

Polydrusus is a fascinating genus of broad-nosed weevils. These beetles are primarily known for their striking, iridescent colors that can seem almost artificial. Contrary to the common belief that all weevils are pests, members of Polydrusus play critical roles in their ecosystems, particularly in decomposing plant material, which recycles nutrients back into the soil. Their larvae develop inside plant stems and roots, making them important decomposers, albeit sometimes to the detriment of ornamental plants.
