Description
Members of the genus Polyphylla are remarkable for the males' distinctive flair: enlarged antennae that resemble intricate fans. These antennae are not just for show; they serve a crucial role in detecting pheromones emitted by females, sometimes from great distances. While Polyphylla might appear frightening due to their size, they are primarily harmless, feeding on plant roots during their larval stage and not engaging with humans unless disturbed. Contrary to common fears, they do not bite or sting and are essentially benign to us.
