Description

Often mistaken for mere grasshoppers, Prophalangopsidae are actually from an ancient group of katydids, dating back to the Jurassic period. Their songs, produced not by vocal cords but by stridulation (rubbing their wings together), are complex and have evolved to ensure species-specific communication amidst the cacophony of the natural world.
