Members of the Pyrochroidae family, boast vibrant, fiery red and black coloration that isn't just for show. These colors serve as a warning to predators about their toxicity, a brilliant example of aposematism in nature. Despite their vivid warning colors, these beetles are often mistaken for mere ornamental garden insects. However, their larvae, known as 'fireworms', play a crucial role in the ecosystem by preying on other insects, thus controlling pest populations.
