Description
Scathophaga are often seen basking in the sun on dung heaps, yet these unassuming insects are far from mere scavengers. Contrary to the distasteful environments they frequent, Scathophaga play a pivotal role in nutrient recycling. Despite their association with dung, they are fastidious groomers, keeping their golden bodies immaculately clean to ensure maximum efficiency in heat absorption.
