Sclerosomatid harvestmen
Scientific name: Sclerosomatidae
Description
Sclerosomatidae, often surprises people with their spider-like appearance, yet they belong to a distinct order of arachnids. Characterized by exceptionally long legs relative to their body size, these creatures are colloquially known as 'daddy longlegs'—a name shared, confusingly, with certain spiders. Unlike spiders, Sclerosomatidae do not spin webs or possess venom. They are harmless to humans, predominantly scavengers that contribute to controlling smaller pest populations.
