Description

Belonging to the genus Sitophilus, these insects are notorious for their role as pests, particularly targeting stored grains. A fascinating aspect of Sitophilus is their unique adaptation - their larvae actually develop inside grain kernels, remaining hidden from view until they mature. Contrary to popular belief, Sitophilus do not spread diseases to humans, but their presence can significantly decrease crop yields, posing challenges for grain storage and food security.
