Description
In fact, many Staphylinidae are beneficial predators, feeding on pests in gardens and crops, making them natural allies in agriculture. One common misconception about Staphylinidae is their threat to humans due to their aggressive predatory nature; however, their primary focus is smaller insects and not human skin. Their ability to retract their wings under short, versatile wing covers is a remarkable adaptation, allowing them swift movements in pursuit of prey or escaping predators.
