Description
The Gonepteryx genus, belonging to the butterfly family, is noteworthy not only for their distinctive wing shapes but also the longevity of their adult phase, which can last several months, much longer than most other butterflies. Interestingly, their prolonged lifespan is due to their unique hibernation-like state during winter, a rarity among butterflies. Contrary to some beliefs, the leaf-like appearance of their wings isn鈥檛 simply aesthetic but serves as an effective camouflage from predators, showcasing nature鈥檚 intricate survival strategies.
