Description

Although Stomoxys are often mistaken for the common housefly, they are distinct because of their ability to bite and feed on blood. These flies possess a proboscis that is capable of piercing skin, primarily targeting mammals including humans. This biting behavior can be more than just a nuisance; Stomoxys are known vectors for various animal diseases, playing a significant role in transmitting pathogens.
