Forficula
Scientific name: Forficula

Description

The creatures of genus Forficula are often misunderstood as pests. Fascinatingly, they are one of the few non-social insects that exhibit maternal care. Mothers will guard their eggs and young, displaying a level of parental investment rarely seen among insects. Contrary to common fears, they cannot transmit diseases to humans and are predominantly harmless. Their pincer-like cerci, often viewed with apprehension, are primarily used for defense and mating rituals rather than aggression.
